Poet Among the Bookshelves. A Free Poetry Workshop

University Bookshop Canterbury - Thursday, August 01, 2019

We have our very own local poet, Kerrin Sharpe, who will guide some lucky participants on how to hone their poetry-writing skills.

This hour-long workshop with Kerrin will give you some of the best tips and techniques to improve your writing process, as well as feedback and advice from a poet with some amazing industry experience.
Create a piece of poetry you can be proud of and have it featured in our UBS National Poetry Day online collection, as well as the chance to have it featured in Christchurch-based initiative, The Commuting Book!

Spaces are limited so please register to attend. Tea, coffee, and cake will be provided.

National Poetry Day #NZPoetryDay

The Great Book of Poetry

UBS Canterbury is celebrating National Poetry Day 2019 by making The Great Book of Poetry, a collection of poetry created by New Zealanders to display instore. 

Whether you’re a newbie or an experienced writer of poetry, we want to show your work! All poems will be featured in the book and all participants will go in the draw to win a poetry prize pack! 
The book will be unveiled on Poetry Day, 23rd August 2019 and we invite participants, poets, and anyone else to come and see the finished book and browse our store poetry shelves. 

Entry Details: 
Free to enter. 
Open to all NZ residents. 
Limit of two poems per participant. 
Each poem must be formatted to fit on an A4 portrait page and work must be original. 
Feel free to add colour and art to make your poem pop!

We are collecting books for the children of the Muslim community in store and they will be available for distribution to all of the children in the Canterbury Region. 
Note: We welcome second hand books in good condition. Thank you.

If you would like to donate a new book we offer a discount of 25%. This can be done in store at the moment but we are working on an online option for you. Stay tuned.
